Hakim Ziyech lands in Brazil ahead of Botafogo move

Morocco international Hakim Ziyech has arrived in Brazil ahead of his proposed move to Botafogo.

The 33-year-old attacking midfielder is set to undergo a medical before completing his transfer to the Brazilian club as a free agent.

Ziyech became a free agent after leaving Moroccan side Wydad, where he spent a brief spell following his departure from Turkish club Galatasaray.

His arrival in Brazil marks the next step in negotiations with Botafogo, with the club expected to finalise the deal once the player successfully completes his medical.

Ziyech brings considerable experience to Botafogo, having played at some of Europe’s biggest clubs during a career that has included spells with Ajax, Chelsea and Galatasaray.

The Moroccan enjoyed his most successful period at Ajax, helping the Dutch club win the Eredivisie and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League in the 2018-19 season.

His performances earned him a move to Chelsea in 2020, where he won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

At international level, Ziyech has been a key figure for Morocco and was part of the squad that made history by reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

A move to Botafogo would give Ziyech a new opportunity in South American football as he looks to revive his career and establish himself as an important player for the Brazilian side.

The club are now waiting for the outcome of his medical before completing the free-agent signing.
