Hakim Ziyech joins Botafogo on contract until 2028 after move to Brazil

Hakim Ziyech has completed his move to Botafogo, signing a contract that will keep him at the Brazilian club until the end of 2028.

The Morocco international, 33, arrives after a brief spell with Wydad Casablanca. He previously enjoyed successful periods with Ajax Amsterdam, Chelsea and Galatasaray.

Ziyech was also a key figure in Morocco’s historic run at the 2022 World Cup, when the Atlas Lions finished fourth. Following the completion of his contract, the attacking midfielder spoke to Botafogo’s official channel after arriving in Brazil and also addressed a message to Moroccan supporters.

The transfer begins a new stage in the career of the player, who was born in Dronten and is valued at 2.2 million euros on the market.

His next challenge will be adapting to a different style of football and the physical demands of the Brazilian championship. Botafogo are due to face Bragantino in their 27th league match.

The available betting odds list Botafogo as the favourites at 2.10. A draw is priced at 3.20, while a Bragantino victory is rated at 2.85.
