Hakim Ziyech is determined to make his return to the Morocco national team after missing the final rounds of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The attacking midfielder has taken steps to regain top form following his move to the United Arab Emirates, a decision he believes will help him secure his place in the squad for the tournament’s final stage.
In an interview with the Emirati press, Ziyech expressed his motivation for the move, stating, “I signed here to play regularly, get back into shape and return to the national team.
The former captain of the Atlas Lions has faced a decline in form, leading to his exclusion from recent national team selections.
However, Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has not ruled out his return, emphasizing that playing time will be the key factor in any decision.
Hakim must find playing time, then we will decide,” Regragui stated.
Ziyech, who previously played for Galatasaray and Chelsea, will be hoping his performances in the UAE can convince the coaching staff that he is ready for a comeback.
With the AFCON finals on the horizon, his resurgence could be crucial for Morocco’s ambitions in the tournament.
