Haitham Hassan starts for Celtic against St Mirren for third successive match

Martin O’Neill has named Haitham Hassan in Celtic’s starting XI for their Scottish Premiership match against St Mirren, giving the Egypt international a starting place for the third consecutive game.

Celtic face St Mirren shortly in the sixth round of the Scottish Premiership, with O’Neill confirming his line-up before kick-off.

Hassan also began Celtic’s previous two matches, against Falkirk and Aberdeen. The winger will now start again as Celtic look to maintain their perfect record in the competition and strengthen their position at the top of the table.

The 22-year-old has appeared in four matches for Celtic so far this season, playing a total of 165 minutes. However, he is yet to score or provide an assist for the club.

Celtic lead the Scottish Premiership with 12 points and have won every match they have played in the competition. St Mirren are second on 10 points, making the meeting between the top two sides a significant fixture in the early league standings.

Hassan’s inclusion continues his run in Celtic’s first-choice line-up after starting against Falkirk and Aberdeen. The Egypt international will be hoping to make a telling contribution against St Mirren and register his first goal or assist since joining the Scottish club.

With Celtic top of the table and St Mirren directly behind them, the match offers Hassan another opportunity to influence a fixture between the leading sides in the division.
