Hacene Benali: Red Star FCs Algerian-French forward linked with AS Nancy move

Hacene Benali, the Algerian-French centre-forward currently at Red Star FC, is being linked with a move to Ligue 2 rivals AS Nancy as the summer window gathers pace. The 26-year-old, who is under contract with Red Star until 30 June 2027, is attracting interest after establishing himself as a regular in the French professional ranks.

Benalis situation is complicated by his contractual security and a current market valuation of around 350,000, meaning Red Star are under no pressure to sell and any deal is likely to require a fee. Nancy are monitoring options through the middle and see Benali as a potential addition to bolster their attacking depth for the coming campaign.

Born in Poitiers and standing at 1.82m, Benali has developed into a consistent performer at centre-forward, featuring regularly in Ligue 2 for Red Star following their rise through the divisions. He has also produced in domestic cup competition, with a strong scoring return in the Coupe de France helping to raise his profile among second-tier clubs.

Benali joined Red Star on a free transfer from Concarneau in August 2021 and went on to play a part in a French third-tier title success, a campaign that preceded his step up to the second division. Primarily right-footed and wearing the No 29 shirt, he has accumulated more than 50 Ligue 2 appearances for the Parisian club, underlining his experience at this level.

For now, Benali remains a Red Star player with a year left to run beyond the upcoming season, leaving Nancy to weigh up whether to test their rivals resolve with a formal offer.
