In a historic moment for Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023, striker Habib Diallo etched his name into the record books by scoring the fastest goal ever for Senegal in knockout-stage history during their encounter against Ivory Coast.
Facing Ivory Coast in the Round of 16, the Senegalese forward, Habib Diallo, showcased his prowess by finding the back of the net just four minutes into the game.
The goal unfolded from a splendid cross by Sadio Mane, met by Diallo’s powerful shot from inside the penalty area, securing an early lead for Senegal.
Diallo’s remarkable goal, timed at 3 minutes and 15 seconds, now stands as the quickest goal in Senegal’s history during the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The previous record was held by Khalilou Fadiga, who scored for Senegal against Nigeria on February 7, 2000, after six minutes.
