Habib Beye praises attacking risk after Bayern vs Real Madrid thriller

Marseille coach Habib Beye says he wants his team to play brave, proactive football, even if it sometimes leads to defensive chaos, pointing to Bayern Munich’s 4-3 Champions League win over Real Madrid as a vivid example.

Speaking before Marseille’s trip to Lorient, Beye explained that high-intensity, front-foot football will always involve a trade-off.

“It is important to have a proactive team with a desire to press high and take initiative,” Beye said, using Marseille’s third goal against Metz as a reference point. “Take the example of the third goal against Metz. A team that pushes forward can sometimes lose structure.”

Beye admitted he saw something similar in the Bayern–Real Madrid semi-final. “I watched the Champions League match between Bayern and Real Madrid. We saw disjointed football with mistakes, and yet we are talking about two of the best teams,” he noted.

For the Marseille boss, that chaotic spectacle is proof that even elite sides suffer when they commit bodies forward, and he appears ready to accept those risks as his team continues their push for a Champions League spot.
