Habib Beye plays down future speculation after Olympique Marseille setback

Habib Beye has refused to be drawn into any discussion about his future at Marseille after a poor run of results that has damaged the club’s push for Champions League qualification.

Since taking over in February, he has struggled to generate the consistency required, with Olympique Marseille losing momentum at a key stage of the season.

Speaking to Ligu1+, Beye insisted that his own position was the last thing that should matter right now. “My future doesn’t matter,” he said. “I’m not doing well because of what I’ve just seen and experienced.” He admitted he had expected a far better performance from his side and accepted that the demands at Marseille are unforgiving.

“I thought we were capable of putting in a good performance. The reality is that you have to win matches at OM, and I haven’t been up to the task,” he added.

With Champions League hopes fading and pressure increasing in the stands and the boardroom, Beye’s stance is to keep the focus firmly on results and improvement on the pitch rather than on speculation about his job.
