Habib Beye emerges as frontrunner for Marseille job

Olympique de Marseille are moving quickly to identify a successor to Roberto De Zerbi, with Senegalese coach Habib Beye emerging as the leading candidate following the Italian’s departure.

De Zerbi’s exit was confirmed on Tuesday night, prompting Marseille to accelerate their search for a new manager.

Attention has since turned to Beye, who is understood to be close to an agreement that would see him return to a club environment he knows well.

His familiarity with Marseille and recent coaching experience have placed him at the centre of discussions as the club looks to stabilise its sporting direction.

Beye became available after being dismissed by Stade Rennais earlier in the week. His availability has coincided with Marseille’s need for swift action, creating a window for negotiations.

Another coach linked with the vacancy is Nigeria national team manager Eric Chelle, who has been proposed to Marseille’s leadership.
