Haaland seals Manchester derby win for 10-man Man City

Erling Haaland scored the decisive goal as 10-man Manchester City beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.

City had Phil Foden sent off midway through the first half after he kicked out at Bruno Fernandes while on the ground. United were unable to take advantage of their numerical advantage, despite hitting the woodwork twice through Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo.

Haaland put City ahead on the hour when he directed a finish into the net from a tight angle. The goal was initially ruled out for offside, but a VAR review overturned the decision after replays showed the outstretched foot of Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu had played the Norwegian onside.

The result lifts Manchester City to second in the table with 12 points from four games, behind champions Arsenal on goal difference. Manchester United remain 13th, with four points from their opening four matches.
