Congo international striker Guy Mbenza is being linked with a return to Wydad AC, with the Moroccan club reportedly tracking the LN Tieren centre-forward as a potential attacking reinforcement.

The 25-year-old, currently on the books of Chinese League One side LN Tieren, is the subject of fresh speculation suggesting Wydad are exploring the possibility of bringing him back to Botola Pro Inwi. The probability of a deal remains unclear – listed only as “?” in the latest transfer data – and there is no indication yet of an agreement between the clubs.

Mbenza’s status at LN Tieren adds to the uncertainty. The forward’s contract length in China is not publicly specified, leaving open the prospect that he could become a free agent in the near future, which would likely make any move to Casablanca more straightforward and potentially less costly.

The Brazzaville-born striker is currently valued at €1.70m, according to the most recent market assessment, down from a career-high €2.50m during his spell with Saudi Arabian side Al-Tai FC. That valuation may appeal to Wydad, who know the player well from his previous loan stint at the club, when he was registered with Belgian side Royal Antwerp.

Mbenza has followed a well-travelled route through the professional game, moving from Congolese sides JS Poto-Poto, AC Léopards, CS La Mancha and AS Otôho to Stade Tunisien, before earning a switch to Europe with Cercle Brugge and later Antwerp. Loan spells at FC Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy and Wydad Casablanca preceded permanent moves to Al-Tai, Muaither SC in Qatar, Kuwait SC and then back to Muaither, before his transfer to Liaoning Tieren in China.

If Wydad do succeed in tempting Mbenza back to Casablanca, the move could offer the right-footed centre-forward a platform to relaunch his career in a familiar environment and reassert his reputation as a leading attacker in African club football.
