Guingamp Goalkeeper Mamadou Samassa Hit with Five-Match Ban
Mamadou Samassa, the goalkeeper for En Avant Guingamp, has received a five-match suspension from the Professional Football League’s disciplinary committee following serious misconduct during Matchday 8 of Ligue 1 against Montpellier.
The decision, made official this Thursday, stems from Samassa’s behavior after being sent off by the referee. According to the committee, the goalkeeper went beyond acceptable limits by physically intimidating the official, an action that drew severe disciplinary action.
As a result, Samassa will miss the next four Ligue 1 fixtures in addition to the match he was already suspended for due to the red card. The suspension delivers a significant blow to Guingamp, who will now have to manage without their first-choice keeper during a critical stretch of the season.
