Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy reveals childhood idols who shaped his striking style
Serhou Guirassy, the star of Borussia Dortmund, has shared insights into his footballing influences, revealing the two top strikers who shaped his style as a child.
Unlike many modern-day players who had posters of their heroes adorning their rooms, the Guinean international didn’t follow the typical trend. Instead, he focused on the performances of iconic forwards.
In a recent interview with Sport Bild, Guirassy spoke about the strikers he admired growing up: “I didn’t have any posters in my room. But of course I always followed strikers with special quality. Didier Drogba for example. And Karim Benzema. For me, he is a complete striker, that impressed me. Of course, as a child, you look at what you see and think, ‘I can learn from the best.’ I always watched his game very closely and tried to adopt his style of play a little.”
On 18 July 2024, Guirassy made the move to Borussia Dortmund, signing a four-year contract for €18 million. In his debut Bundesliga season, he’s been in exceptional form, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 11 games.
