Guinea international Serhou Guirassy is set for a possible departure from Borussia Dortmund as the summer transfer window approaches.
The 29-year-old has been a standout performer for the German club this season, scoring 15 goals in the Bundesliga campaign. Guirassy recently dominated the headlines after scoring a hat-trick to help Dortmund beat Barcelona in the Champions League.
Guirassy, who joined Dortmund for a lower transfer fee after the club exploited a clause in his contract with his former club, Stuttgart. The enterprising forward had an 18 million euros release clause, which Dortmund triggered to secure his services until 2028.
Similarly, Dortmund could also lose the highly-profiled attacker for a lower transfer fee, considering the release clause stipulated in his contract.
The Guinea international has a €70 million release clause, which could be activated after the 2025 Club World Cup by interested clubs.
Guirassy is the first player since Erling to include a clause in his contract that allows him to leave the prestigious German team for a specific sum.
Meanwhile, the sale of Guirassy could rise to €100 million, especially with bonuses and additional fees. The Guinean striker is the focus of attention of a number of English Premier League teams heading into the summer transfer window.
His departure will be a major blow to the German team, which is suffering from a clear shortage in its attacking line.
Despite a possible transfer in summer, Guirassy is said to be comfortable in Dortmund, where he lives with his wife and children near the team’s stadium. The ambitious attacker wants to participate in the Champions League permanently.
Dortmund is in danger of not qualifying for the Champions League next season, as the team is ranked eighth with 42 points, five points away from the qualifying places for this prestigious European competition.
