The Guinean Football Federation (FGF) has confirmed that French coach Michel Dussuyer will remain at the helm of the Syli National despite a disappointing qualifying campaign for the 2025 AFCON.
Dussuyer, who took charge from the second matchday of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, guided Guinea to three victories against Ethiopia and DR Congo.
However, the team suffered a setback with a defeat to Tanzania on the final matchday. Although Guinea’s qualification hopes were dashed on paper, the FGF has lodged an appeal against the result of the match against Tanzania.
With the focus now shifting to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Guinea holds six points in its group and remains firmly in contention.
Dussuyer and his technical staff are preparing intensively for the upcoming international window, which could prove decisive for the Syli National’s campaign.
Key fixtures in March 2025 will test Guinea’s ambitions. The team will host Somalia on Friday, 21 March at the Stade Alassane Ouattara d’Ebimpé in Abidjan, with kick-off at 19:00 GMT.
Four days later, Guinea will travel to Kampala to face Uganda at the Mandela Stadium on Tuesday, 25 March at 16:00 GMT.
Dussuyer, who previously led Guinea between 2002 and 2004, is tasked with steering the nation to its first-ever World Cup appearance.
