Michel Dussuyer Finally Paid After Guinea’s AFCON Qualification
It took a successful qualification campaign for Michel Dussuyer to recover his long-overdue salary. The French coach of Guinea’s national team has finally received ten months of unpaid wages from the Guinean government.
Despite the financial difficulties, Dussuyer, an experienced figure in African football, continued to lead the Syli National, relying solely on match bonuses during this challenging period.
“I didn’t want this situation to affect the team,” Dussuyer stated at a press conference. “I always strive to create an environment where the players feel everything is in order. That’s why I chose to remain silent about my personal situation until the end of the qualifiers.”
The Guinean government transferred €180,000—equivalent to a monthly salary of €20,000—into Dussuyer’s account, settling the arrears.
With the financial dispute resolved, Dussuyer can now fully focus on preparing his team for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Guinea secured qualification by finishing second in Group E, behind Ghana and ahead of Uganda and Togo.
