Khadim Ndiaye Extends Contract with Horoya AC Amid Recovery from Serious Injury
In a remarkable show of loyalty and trust, Senegalese goalkeeper Khadim Ndiaye has signed a three-year contract extension with Horoya AC of Guinea Conakry, even while still recovering in hospital from a severe injury sustained during the match against Wydad Casablanca (WAC).
The decision to extend Ndiaye’s contract was made by mutual agreement with the club’s board, underlining the player’s importance to Horoya AC both on and off the pitch.
“Khadim Ndiaye’s contract was set to expire in 2019, but in recognition of his contributions, we have extended it for three years, effective immediately,” the club announced on its official website. “We are also providing him with a career transition plan, including funding for his training in Europe. This is part of our commitment to help him recover fully and continue his professional journey. Our support mirrors the approach we’ve taken with Bassirou Ouedraogo.”
Horoya AC president Antonio Souaré praised Ndiaye’s dedication and loyalty. “When he went to the World Cup, Khadim told the world he would not leave the club, even if Barcelona offered him a contract. In return, we are offering him a permanent place at Horoya AC. We also thank the Senegalese fans for the tremendous support they have shown because of Khadim Ndiaye.”
Speaking from the hospital, Ndiaye expressed deep gratitude to the club and its supporters. “I can only thank Horoya AC for everything they have done for me since I joined. I feel at home in Guinea; from the president to the Amagonbo supporters, everyone respects me. I didn’t expect to be here, but Horoya AC gave me the chance to participate in the World Cup in Russia.
