Guinea’s Home Matches to Be Played Abroad After CAF Decision
Guinea will have to wait longer before hosting its upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers on home soil. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued a statement denying reports that Guinea had been granted permission to stage its home games in the country.
The decision is a blow to the Syli National team and its supporters. Head coach Michel Dussuyer expressed his disappointment, telling Foot224: “For us, it’s once again depriving ourselves of the support of the public and also of the home advantage. For the opponent, it’s easier to play on neutral ground than away. It’s also disappointing for the fans who want to see their team play. I know that the Guinean people are very attached to their team and they will be disappointed.”
As a result, Guinea’s upcoming third-round qualifier against Ghana on October 10 will be held outside the country once again. Morocco will host the fixture, continuing to provide a neutral venue for Guinea’s home matches in the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
