Kevin Constant Denies Reports of Monetary Promise to Guinean National Team
Kevin Constant, the Guinean midfielder currently at Trabzonspor, took to Twitter on Thursday to clear up false rumors regarding a financial incentive to the Guinean national team.
“I want to clarify the situation… False information is circulating about a donation of money to the Guinean national team,” Constant wrote, addressing claims that he had promised €5,000 to each player and staff member if Guinea qualified for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
Fans of the Syli National were reportedly encouraged by the supposed promise, viewing it as motivation and a sign of Constant’s commitment to the team. However, the former AC Milan player refuted these reports, emphasizing in a follow-up tweet that, “If I had to make a donation, I would do it for the Guinean people,” highlighting his concern for broader social issues including the fight against Ebola.
Guinea is set to face Togo on Friday in the opening round of the 2015 CAN qualifiers.
