Wolves youngster Mateus Mane is eager to build on his Premier League debut after featuring in the 4-1 defeat to Brighton last weekend.
The 17-year-old, who has Bissau-Guinean roots, made history as the youngest player to represent Wolves in the English top flight, marking a significant milestone in his young career.
Mane, born in Portugal, moved to Manchester at the age of eight and is now an England U18 international.
Reflecting on his debut, Mane told the club’s website, “It sounds really good and nice to have that down there, being the youngest ever Premier League player for Wolves.
“It’s really nice to hear.” He added, “It felt good to make my debut because I’ve been on the bench a few times now, but I’ve just been ready every game, ready to come on and play my game…
“It felt good for me, my family, my friends and everything.”
Despite his rapid rise, Mane remains grounded, attributing his breakthrough to hard work and determination.
“I feel that it’s because of my hard work, my dedication, my hunger and the desire that I have for the game. I always want to be the best and make my family proud,” he said.
As for his international future, Mane, who qualifies for Guinea Bissau, England and Portugal, remains undecided.
He noted, “It’s good to see that the two countries want me to play for them, so I have two options… I’m just seeing what’s best. I’m not really sure what I’m going to pick yet.”
