Amara Traoré, former Senegalese international footballer and coach of the Lions of Teranga, has been appointed as the new coach of the Association Sportive de Kaloum (ASK), a prestigious club in Conakry, Guinea. ASK has won the national championship twelve times.
Amara Traoré signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with ASK. The details and amount of the contract are not disclosed yet. He will take charge of the team immediately and is expected to arrive in Conakry on Friday.
The former coach of AS Kaloum, Pélé Diop, will not be sidelined; instead, he will be assigned to another position within the club to assist Amara Traoré.
Under the new leadership of Bouba Sampil, who replaced Baidy Aribot, AS Kaloum has seen improvements in its performance. The club was initially last in the Ligue 1 standings but has now climbed to third place.
Amara Traoré, known for his successful playing career, particularly in France with Metz, also served as the coach of the Senegal national team. However, he was dismissed in 2012 following poor results in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
