Guillaume Hoarau Linked with Move to Saint-Étienne
Former Paris Saint-Germain striker Guillaume Hoarau is reportedly close to joining AS Saint-Étienne, as the Ligue 1 side looks to reinforce its attacking line ahead of the new season.
Currently a free agent after parting ways with Bordeaux, the Réunion-born forward is believed to be in advanced talks with Les Verts. According to reports from Spacefoot, Hoarau was seen at Paris Gare de Lyon on Friday, boarding a train bound for Saint-Étienne — a potential sign that a deal is nearing completion.
The 30-year-old could serve as a replacement for Brazilian striker Brandão, who is in discussions over a move to English Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. Saint-Étienne manager Christophe Galtier has previously expressed interest in Hoarau, who brings a wealth of experience to the table.
Since his departure from PSG in 2013 to join Chinese club Dalian Aerbin, Hoarau has struggled to recapture his best form. A brief stint at Bordeaux offered limited impact, and he has since been seeking a fresh opportunity to revive his career.
Interest in the forward has not been limited to Saint-Étienne, with RC Lens and Olympique Lyonnais also reportedly monitoring his situation. However, the chance to play at the iconic Stade Geoffroy-Guichard — affectionately known as “Le Chaudron” — could prove decisive.
If the move materialises, Hoarau will be hoping to rediscover the form that once made him one of Ligue 1’s most promising attacking talents.
