Players of Guédiawaye FC have expressed displeasure over their unpaid bonuses, embarking on a strike action in Senegal.
Amid several broken promises, the players have decided not to train until financial dispute are resolved. Guédiawaye FC appears not to be financially sound, undermining their performance in the ongoing football campaign,
Currently, Guédiawaye FC are one place up of the 16th placed team in the Senegalese Ligue 1 standings. After 13 matches, the club find themselves in the 15th position, accumulating just eight points across the period.
Guédiawaye FC will have to uplift their game in order to play safe at the end of the 2025.26 football campaign.
However, the players in a conversation confirmed the strike action, insisting they will not return to training until their arrears are cleared by the leadership of the club.
“The strike is in effect until further notice. We will not train until the club pays our salary arrears. We haven’t been paid in three months. Under these conditions, it’s impossible to perform well. Worse still, we don’t even know who is actually running the club.” he told DSsports.
