Guardiola hails Marc Guehi as incredible Man City signing

Pep Guardiola has showered praise on Marc Guehi, branding the defender an “incredible signing” after his impressive start to life at Manchester City.

The centre-back joined from Crystal Palace for £20 million in January and has quickly established himself as a key figure in Guardiola’s back line, making 16 appearances in all competitions with City losing only twice in that spell.

Speaking ahead of the Premier League reunion with Palace, Guardiola highlighted Guehi’s attitude on and off the pitch. “After one week of his arrival I said it was an incredible signing,” he explained, repeating that assessment again as the season has unfolded. The City boss stressed that the defender’s attention to detail and commitment to his profession stand out every day.

“His focus in every single detail, in the game, in his private life to be a professional is an unbelievable signing for this club. We are really pleased in his behaviour,” Guardiola said. He added that the way Guehi handles difficult moments and bounces back immediately is what defines “big, big players in big clubs,” underlining just how highly he is rated within the squad.
