Grenoble sign French-Ivorian winger Jean-Guy Akpa Akpro on loan

France and Ivory Coast winger Jean-Guy Akpa Akpro has joined Grenoble from Italian club Pro Vercelli on loan, completing a move to the Ligue 2 side until 30 June 2027.

The 21-year-old right winger switches to France after one year with Pro Vercelli, where he played in Serie C. The transfer was completed on 4 August 2026, with Grenoble becoming his latest club after a career that has included spells in Italy and Finland.

Akpa Akpro made his senior move to Pro Vercelli from Triestina Under-19s on a free transfer in July 2025. Before that, he had spent time with Crotone Under-19s and Pargas IF, joining Triestina’s youth side from the Finnish club in September 2023.

His recorded Serie C-A statistics include 37 appearances, four goals and two assists. He also scored twice in four Coppa Serie C appearances, while making one further appearance in Serie C-C. The figures represent his experience in Italian senior football before the move to Grenoble.

Akpa Akpro is listed as an attacking right winger and is right-footed. He stands 1.83m tall and was born in Tolosa on 27 May 2005. His French and Ivorian nationality gives him a background spanning both countries, while his move to Grenoble takes him into France’s second tier for the first time in the recorded transfer history.

The deal gives Grenoble a player who has already appeared in competitive senior football in Italy, while Pro Vercelli retain his registration beyond the loan period. The transfer record schedules his return to the Italian club at the end of June 2027.

Akpa Akpro’s previous transfers include loan moves between Triestina Under-19s and Crotone Under-19s, followed by his free transfer to Pro Vercelli. He now continues his career in Ligue 2 with Grenoble on a loan agreement running through to 30 June 2027.
