Goodman Mosele: Orlando Pirates and South Africa midfielder linked with Durban City switch

Goodman Mosele, the South African central midfielder currently at Orlando Pirates, is being linked with a move to Betway Premiership rivals Durban City FC. The 26-year-old, valued at around €600,000, is understood to be attracting interest as Durban City look to strengthen their options in the middle of the pitch ahead of the new campaign.

Mosele has spent the bulk of his top-flight career in South Africa’s premier division, making 168 league appearances and gaining exposure in continental competition. He has also featured in both the CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League, adding experience that is likely to appeal to an ambitious Durban City side operating in the same division as Pirates.

The midfielder returned to Orlando Pirates this summer after a season-long loan at Chippa United, the second time he has been sent to the Gqeberha club on a temporary deal. That pattern has increased speculation over his long-term future in Johannesburg, with Durban City now emerging as a potential destination should Pirates be open to negotiations.

Mosele first joined Pirates in July 2021 from Baroka FC and has since added major domestic silverware to his CV, including the Nedbank Cup in the 2022-23 season. With his contract situation not publicly clarified and his market value steady, Pirates face a decision over whether to reintegrate him into their plans or consider formal offers in the current transfer window.
