VfL Halle 96 have completed the signing of Ghanaian right-back Godjes Yeboah from FC Grimma II on a free transfer, with the deal officially starting on 2026-02-01 and running until null. The 21-year-old defender joins the NOFV-Oberliga Süd side after a brief spell with Grimma’s reserve team and will be registered as a VfL Halle 96 player for the 25/26 campaign.
The move keeps Yeboah in German football and places him in a senior regional competition rather than returning to his home country Ghana. The transfer from FC Grimma II to VfL Halle 96 has been finalised without a fee, reflecting his status at Grimma and the absence of a current listed market value; his last recorded market valuation stood at €25,000 during his time with FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen, before later dropping to zero while playing for their second team.
Born in Hannover and standing 1.73m tall, Yeboah is a right-footed specialist at right-back, categorised primarily as a defender. He represents Ghana at national level in terms of nationality, while his entire club career to date has unfolded in Central Europe, mainly in Germany with a short spell in Austria. His arrival at VfL Halle 96 adds depth on the flank for a side competing in the NOFV-Oberliga Süd, a division that often relies on young, mobile full-backs capable of covering large spaces.
Yeboah’s pathway to Halle has been marked by frequent moves through youth and reserve structures. He developed in the RB Leipzig system, progressing from RB Leipzig Youth to the U17s and then the U19s, before stepping into senior and semi-professional environments. After leaving RB Leipzig U19, he joined FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen and later moved to their second team, FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen II, where his recorded market value fell to zero in late 2023, reflecting a period of transition rather than established first-team status.
A loan stint with Eimsbütteler TV U19, followed by a permanent move to LASK Amateure OÖ in Austria, gave him early experience abroad before he returned to Germany and briefly went without a club. From that unattached spell he signed for FC Grimma II in November 2025, and now steps up again to a higher-profile regional club in VfL Halle 96.
Yeboah’s contract at Halle is set to run until null, indicating that a defined expiry has not been recorded and that he could in future become a free agent again, depending on how the agreement is structured or updated. That uncertainty over term length leaves scope for further moves later in his career, particularly if he re-establishes or increases his market value with consistent performances in the NOFV-Oberliga Süd.
For VfL Halle 96, the acquisition of a former RB Leipzig youth product without a transfer fee represents a low-risk opportunity to tap into a player educated at one of Germany’s renowned academies. For Yeboah, it is a fresh platform in German regional football to rebuild his standing after periods in reserve sides, loans, and a spell without a club. How he adapts to his new environment in Halle, and whether he can regain or surpass his earlier valuation, will go a long way to determining the next stage of his career and his long-term prospects within the European game.
