Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has shared his excitement following his return to the Nigeria squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Uzoho was named in the 28-man squad released by coach Eric Chelle for the continental showpiece to be held in Morocco from December 21 through to January 18, 2025.

However, Uzoho, who was the first player to report to camp in Cairo on Sunday, has expressed his joy following his return to the team.

“I missed quite a lot. But like I think I missed the boys to be honest. I missed the boys. I missed the vibe in the camp, you know, because we’ve been quite a lot together,” he said.

“I was filled with joy, you know, a joy that I cannot actually express to you right now. So yeah, it was relieving to know that I’m coming back again to be with the boys and to have that same feeling we used to have before and to represent Nigeria, which is the most important thing,” he said.

Nigeria currently has eleven players in camp, marking steady progress in the team’s buildup ahead of upcoming engagements.

The Super Eagles awaits additional 12 players on Monday, December 15, as preparations intensify for the much-anticipated AFCON 2025.

The West African football heavyweights will compete in Group C, where they face Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda. Nigeria will open their account at the continental mundial against Tanzania on December 23, 2025.
