CAF Unveils 2014 Glo CAF Awards Nominees: Yaya Touré Leads the Race Again
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the nominees for the 2014 Glo CAF Awards, spotlighting Africa’s top football talents across the continent and beyond. The highly coveted “African Player of the Year” award features a 25-man shortlist packed with star power, with Yaya Touré once again leading the charge.
The Ivorian midfielder, already a three-time winner, is looking to equal Samuel Eto’o’s record of four titles. Touré is joined by fellow Ivorians Gervinho and Wilfried Bony, highlighting Côte d’Ivoire’s deep pool of talent.
Algeria stands out this year with the highest number of nominees—a reflection of their impressive World Cup 2014 campaign. Raïs M’Bolhi, Islam Slimani, Yacine Brahimi, and Sofiane Feghouli all earned nods.
