South African winger Giovanni Philander of Chippa United is being linked with a move to Betway Premiership rivals Durban City FC as the 26-year-old attracts interest following his first full top-flight campaign.

Philander, a left-footed left winger, has been a regular for Chippa this season, making 30 league appearances and passing the 1,500-minute mark in the Premiership. His performances have drawn attention from within the division, with Durban City exploring the possibility of adding him to their attacking options. Philander is currently valued at around 100,000, a figure that would make any deal a relatively modest outlay by Premiership standards.

The Cape-based wide player joined Chippa United in July 2024 from FN Rangers and has quickly established himself in the first-team squad. He has also featured in domestic cup competition, including providing an assist in the Nedbank Cup, underlining his contribution in the final third.

Philanders current contract details at Chippa have not been made public, but his rising profile and the interest from Durban City suggest that Chippa could soon face a decision over whether to cash in on the winger or seek to keep him as a key part of their squad. For now, he remains a Chippa United player while Durban City monitor the situation ahead of the new campaign.
