Gilberto set to join Orlando Pirates from Petro de Luanda
Angolan international Gilberto is on the verge of concluding his tenure with Petro de Luanda as he prepares for a new chapter with South Africa’s Orlando Pirates. This move will mark the 23-year-old forward’s first experience outside his home country.
Having joined Petro de Luanda in 2022, Gilberto remains under contract with the Tricolores until 2027.
However, with an official offer from Orlando Pirates on the table, Petro de Luanda’s management has opted not to hold back the promising young striker.
Negotiations between the Angolan international and the South African club are progressing swiftly, with the transfer expected to be finalized in the coming days.
Medical Examination and Contract Details
Sources close to the negotiations suggest that the transfer deal is valued at approximately 500 thousand US dollars.
Gilberto is scheduled to travel to South Africa shortly to undergo the requisite medical examinations before signing a three-year contract with the Pirates.
This will be the fourth club in Gilberto’s professional career, which began with his early steps in football.
The versatile left winger, who can also operate on the right side of the attack, began his professional journey with Real Sambila before moving to CRD Libolo in the 2020-2021 season.
He subsequently joined Petro de Luanda for the 2022-2023 campaign. During his time with the Tricolores, Gilberto featured in 13 matches, netting five goals and providing two assists.
Rivals Outpaced
Although Mamelodi Sundowns also expressed interest in securing Gilberto’s talents, the player chose to align with their rivals, Orlando Pirates.
This decision highlights the strategic planning behind his move, aiming for the best fit for his career progression.
As Gilberto prepares for his medical examination and subsequent signing, his departure from Petro de Luanda signifies a significant step in his career.
The transfer to Orlando Pirates not only offers him a new platform to showcase his skills but also represents a milestone as he embarks on his first professional stint abroad.
With his impressive track record and potential for growth, Gilberto’s addition to the Orlando Pirates is eagerly anticipated.
The Angolan forward is set to bring his dynamic playing style and scoring ability to the South African Premier Division, aiming to make a substantial impact.
As he transitions to this new phase, all eyes will be on Gilberto to see how he adapts and thrives in his new environment.
