Gigal starts Portugal chapter with Maritimo U23 after Petro Luanda exit

Angola winger Gigal has begun a new chapter in Portugal by joining Maritimo U23 from Petro Luanda on a free transfer.

The 19-year-old has signed for the Liga Next Gen side, with his contract running until 30 June 2027. The move was completed on 22 August 2026, bringing an end to his time with Petro Luanda.

Gigal plays primarily on the left wing and is left-footed. Standing at 1.74m, he arrives at Maritimo U23 after featuring in the CAF Champions League for Petro Luanda during the 2026-27 season.

He made four appearances in the competition, playing a total of 237 minutes. The Angola international’s move gives Maritimo U23 a new attacking option as the club integrates him into its squad for the Liga Next Gen campaign.

Gigal’s switch represents his first recorded move to a Portuguese club after playing for Petro Luanda in Angola. He joins Maritimo’s set-up at the age of 19, with the agreement securing his services through the end of the 2026-27 season.

Maritimo U23 are Gigal’s new club following the completed free transfer from Petro Luanda.
