Nigerian forward Gift Orban involved in altercation with fan after Verona defeat

Nigerian striker Gift Orban was involved in a confrontation with a supporter following Hellas Verona’s 1-0 defeat to AC Milan, an incident that has drawn the attention of authorities and prompted a strong response from the club.

The altercation occurred as players were leaving the stadium after the match, which saw Verona slip deeper into the relegation zone. Orban, who declined to stop for photos with supporters, became the focus of tension when one fan struck his car.

The action escalated the situation, leading the forward to leave his vehicle and confront the individual.

According to reports from Italian media, including Corriere dello Sport, the situation quickly developed into a physical altercation before intervention brought it under control.

Officers from Italy’s Special Operations Unit (DIGOS) were called to the scene and have since launched an initial investigation into the events.

Orban, currently on loan from TSG Hoffenheim and formerly of Olympique Lyonnais, has found himself under scrutiny following the clash.

In a statement released after the incident, Hellas Verona made clear its stance, saying the club “firmly dissociates itself from and condemns all violent behavior.”

The response highlights growing concern over fan-player relations, particularly during a tense period for the team.

While no further official disciplinary measures have been confirmed, the episode may cast doubt over Orban’s future at the club beyond the current campaign.

The Nigerian forward’s loan spell, already taking place under challenging circumstances on the pitch, now faces additional uncertainty off it.
