‘Gift gave a very good answer’ – Besnik Hasi hails Orban after Amedspor heroics

Amedspor coach Besnik Hasi has praised Gift Orban for making a strong statement after coming off the bench to score twice in the Turkish side’s 2-2 comeback draw against Kasımpaşa on Sunday.

Hasi was impressed with the Nigerian forward’s immediate response after starting the game among the substitutes, with Orban turning the contest on its head after being introduced at half-time.

The 23-year-old reduced Amedspor’s deficit in the 59th minute before finding the equaliser 11 minutes from time, earning his side a point after they had fallen two goals behind.

For Hasi, however, Orban’s contribution went beyond simply scoring twice. The Amedspor boss believes the striker used his opportunity to underline his value to the team.

Hasi: Orban gave the perfect answer

The coach highlighted Orban’s ability to deliver when given the chance, particularly after also finding the net in Amedspor’s previous league match against Trabzonspor.

“Scoring goals is very important for strikers. Gift did just that when he came on. He did it last week, and today he did it again in a way that directly impacted the game,” he said, as quoted by Amed TV.

Orban’s latest brace means he has now scored three goals for Amedspor this season, with his first coming in the 2-1 victory over Trabzonspor.

His back-to-back scoring performances have strengthened his case for a more prominent role in Hasi’s plans.

The coach also singled out the forward’s mentality after being left on the bench, suggesting that Orban responded in the best possible manner when his opportunity arrived.

“He gave a very good answer to the question ‘Why am I here?’ while on the bench,” Hasi added.

Nigerian making impact from the bench

Orban’s performance against Kasımpaşa underlined his growing influence since arriving in Turkey and provided another example of his ability to change a game with his finishing.

Rather than allowing his omission from the starting XI to affect him, the Nigerian came on with purpose and delivered two crucial goals to prevent Amedspor from suffering defeat.

His impact is particularly notable given that he is still adapting to his new surroundings following his summer move from Hoffenheim.

Loan move offers Orban fresh start

Orban joined Amedspor from the Bundesliga club on a season-long loan, with the agreement including an option for the Turkish side to sign him permanently.

The move followed a loan spell at Italian club Hellas Verona during the 2025/26 season.

After a period of uncertainty over his club future, Orban appears to have made an encouraging start in Turkey. His goals against Trabzonspor and Kasımpaşa have now come in successive matches, giving Hasi another attacking option capable of making an immediate difference.
