Gideon Tetteh: Ireland-Ghana winger joins Wexford FC on free transfer from Portadown

Ireland-Ghana winger Gideon Tetteh has joined Wexford FC on a free transfer from Portadown. The 21-year-old left-sided attacker moves into the League of Ireland First Division after leaving the Northern Irish Premiership club this summer.

Tetteh, who was born in Dublin and is comfortable operating as a left winger, arrives at Wexford with a market value listed at around 50,000. He is a right-footed wide player and adds another attacking option to the Ferrycarrig Park side as they build for the new campaign.

The move continues a cross-border journey for Tetteh, who switched to Portadown from Athlone Town in January 2026, also on a free transfer. Before that he had two spells with Shamrock Rovers, initially stepping up from the Rovers Academy to the first team in June 2022.

Tetteh has already sampled senior football in both league and cup competitions. He made four appearances in the Premiership playout phase for Portadown and featured once in the Irish Cup, accumulating just over 130 minutes of action during that spell.

His early career highlight came in the 2021-22 season, when he was part of a Shamrock Rovers squad that finished the campaign as Irish champions. That success marked the first major honour of his professional career.

Tetteh now embarks on the next stage of his development at Wexford FC following the completion of his free-transfer move from Portadown.
