German-born Ghanaian defender Gideon Jung delivered a standout performance, grabbing a crucial assist to help Greuther Fürth secure a 2-1 victory over Hertha BSC in Bundesliga 2 action.
The win at Sportpark Ronhof Thomas Sommer marked only Fürth’s second triumph in their last seven meetings with Hertha.
Hertha struck early, with Ibrahim Maza capitalizing on Pascal Klemens’ through ball to fire home in the 5th minute. Greuther Fürth responded with determination, and their equalizer came in the 38th minute. Jung showcased his aerial prowess, directing a perfectly timed corner toward Noel Futkeu, who headed home to restore parity.
The second half saw Fürth take control, with Futkeu doubling his tally in the 55th minute. Maximilian Dietz, despite later receiving a red card for a reckless foul, provided the assist with a well-placed set piece that Futkeu converted with clinical precision.
