Gianni Infantino has offered no clear indication about his future as FIFA president, declining to say whether he is considering resignation or intends to seek another term in charge of football’s global governing body.

Infantino was speaking in the Polish city of Katowice, where he attended the opening of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Questions about his position and future plans were put to him by journalists, but he chose not to provide a definite answer.

After discussing the tournament and FIFA’s wider responsibilities, Infantino redirected attention away from his own situation.

“Regarding the rest, there will be a lot to say, but there will be the right time and place to talk about it. Not today, and not here,” he told the media, according to Foot Mercato.

He did not offer any further indication of whether he plans to remain in office, step down or stand for another term.

Instead, the FIFA president focused on the organisation’s efforts to expand football globally and create opportunities for players and emerging talent in different parts of the world.

“It is about giving opportunities to factions, players and talents from all over the world,” Infantino said, referring to the growing number of participants in international competitions.

He added: “Here and now, we value football. And of course, we continue to work within FIFA to give every corner of the world the opportunity and dignity, and to find the ways and means that enable them to develop, participate and celebrate football.”

Infantino used the appearance to underline FIFA’s ambitions for the future and its stated commitment to widening access to the game. However, his remarks did not satisfy journalists seeking an answer about his own plans at the head of the organisation.

The president’s comments therefore leave uncertainty over whether he is considering a departure or preparing to pursue another term. No timeline or possible next step was provided during his visit to Katowice.

His public focus remained on the development of football, the expansion of international tournaments and the participation of players and talent from across the world. Personal questions about the leadership of FIFA were left unanswered.
