Today’s Egyptian Premier League action saw Ghazl El Mahalla edge out Kahrabaa Ismailia 1-0 at home.

The only goal came from Ahmed Shousha in the 50th minute, energizing a supportive crowd anxious for victory. The visitors’ hopes were dashed when Issam El Fiyoumi received a red card before half-time, making their first Premier League season even more challenging.

Ghazl El Mahalla now sits at 14 points, climbing to tenth, while Kahrabaa Ismailia languish near the bottom. Off the pitch, Mahalla are still pursuing overdue fees from Tunisian player Mohamed Ali Ben Hamouda’s transfer to Algeria’s CR Belouizdad.

On a different field, Contractors (El Mokawloon) held ENPPI to a 1-1 draw in Sami Komssan’s managerial debut. Shoukry Nagib opened the scoring early for Contractors, but Ziad Kamal, fresh from a loan outing, swiftly equalized for ENPPI. Late drama saw Contractors’ Joaquim Ogiera sent off, leaving his team 20th.

Elsewhere, Modern Sport climbed to seventh after a 2-1 away win at Wadi Degla. Ahmed Youssef and Ali Zaazaa found the net, helping their team snap a five-game winless streak. Wadi Degla were denied a late equalizer by VAR, deepening their recent struggles.

A new league format is making waves: this year’s competition includes 21 teams and splits into separate groups after the first stage, aiming to intensify competition and reduce fixture congestion.
