Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, 31, is reportedly considering a return to La Liga as his contract with the Premier League club approaches its conclusion in June 2025.
The Ghan international, who transferred from Atlético Madrid to Arsenal in 2020 for €50 million, has yet to engage in substantive discussions regarding a contract extension.
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Partey has expressed interest in joining FC Barcelona. The Catalan club is monitoring his situation but has not made a definitive decision about offering him a contract.
Barcelona’s potential interest may be influenced by concerns over their current midfield options, including Frenkie de Jong.
During the 2024/2025 season, Partey has been a significant contributor to Arsenal’s campaign. He has made 43 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
His performances have underscored his value to the team, and manager Mikel Arteta has previously emphasized Partey’s importance, stating, “Thomas is a player super important for the team and for me.”
Several clubs are reportedly interested in acquiring Partey’s services in the upcoming transfer window in the summer.
In addition to Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be considering moves for the midfielder.
Partey’s familiarity with LaLiga, stemming from his successful tenure at Atlético Madrid, could make a return to Spain an appealing prospect.
