Ghanaian forward Samuel Obeng has pledged to give his all for Wydad Athletic Club after completing his move to the Moroccan giants.
The former Black Meteors star signed for the African powerhouse on Thursday, February 6, and is eager to make an impact. Speaking in his first interview after his unveiling, Obeng expressed his determination to contribute to the club’s success.
“Personally, I will give my best and collectively finish in a good position. In June, we will give our best in the World Cup for the fans and the club,” he said.
Obeng, who was born in Spain, joins Wydad from Portuguese side Casa Pia as part of their winter transfer window signings. The 27-year-old is expected to play a key role under South African head coach Rulani Mokoena.
Though he has spent most of his career in Spain, this will be his first time playing for an African club. However, he is no stranger to North African football, having represented Ghana at the 2019 CAF U23 Cup of Nations in Egypt, where he was the team’s standout performer, scoring two goals.
Obeng has previously played for several clubs in Spain, including Getafe, Girona, Real Oviedo, Granollers, and Calahorra.
He now looks forward to making his mark in Moroccan football with Wydad.
