Ghana’s Inaki Williams happy to make injury return for Athletic Bilbao
Ghana international Inaki Williams has expressed his delight in making his return from injury for Athletic Bilbao at the weekend.
Williams made substitute appearance on his return, as Athletic Bilbao succumbed to a 2-0 away defeat to Celta Vigo in the La Liga.
The Black Stars forward was sidelined in October after picking up an injury in the Champions League clash against Qarabag FK, where his outfit cruised to a 3-1 victory.
”I felt good, growing into the game little by little. Despite the training, the most important thing is competing. I’m happy to be back and to be able to contribute as soon as possible.” He said.
The first half of the match ended in a pulsating goalless draw, as both teams threaded cautiously in the encounter. Putting on a stellar performance after recess, the home team managed to score two goals to secure maximum points.
Sweden international Williot Swedberg opened the scoring in the 48th-minute mark before Jones El-Abdellaoui scored to cement victory for the host.
The 31-year-old forward has had a modest performance since the commencement of the 2025/26 football campaign. He has made 13 appearances across competitions for the San Mames outfit, scoring just a goal in the process.
