Ghana’s Felix Afena-Gyan strikes late as Amedspor edge Vanspor FK in Turkey
Ghana international Felix Afena-Gyan proved decisive on Monday night, coming off the bench to score a dramatic late winner for Amedspor in a 1-0 victory over Vanspor FK in the Turkish lower division.
The young forward started on the bench for the Round 27 clash but was introduced in the 68th minute by coach Mesut Bakkal, replacing Bulgarian attacker Zdravko Dimitrov with the game still goalless.
Afena-Gyan immediately added pace and urgency to Amedspor’s attack, taking on defenders and stretching the opposition backline with his direct runs.
His impact paid off deep into stoppage time. In the 94th minute, he latched onto a well-worked move and calmly slotted home the decisive goal, finishing off an assist from Daniel Moreno to seal a dramatic win for the hosts.
The strike takes Afena-Gyan’s tally to two goals in the Turkish Lig 1 this season, along with five assists, as he continues to play a key role in Amedspor’s push for promotion to the Turkish Super Lig.
