Ghana’s Christopher Bonsu Baah shines with assist as Pakhtakor deny Al Qadsiah victory in AFC Champions League Elite

Ghanaian winger Christopher Bonsu Baah registered an assist for Al Qadsiah in their 1-1 draw against Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor FC in the AFC Champions League Elite on Monday.

The 21-year-old set up Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders for the opening goal in the 35th minute, displaying his vision and attacking quality to put the Saudi Arabian side ahead.

Al Qadsiah looked on course for victory after protecting their advantage for much of the contest, with Bonsu Baah posing a consistent threat down the flank.

However, their hopes of securing all three points were dashed late in the game when a VAR review awarded Pakhtakor a penalty in the 87th minute.

Dostonbek Khamdamov converted from the spot in the 89th minute to rescue a draw for the hosts.

Bonsu Baah was substituted in the 80th minute, making way for Suleman Sani as Al Qadsiah sought to maintain their lead.

Despite the late setback, the Ghana international continued his encouraging start to the 2026/27 campaign. He has now recorded seven goal contributions across 11 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and providing five assists.

The winger also scored his first goal of the season in Al Qadsiah’s emphatic 5-0 league victory over Al-Kholood in the days preceding the continental fixture.

Al Qadsiah will return to domestic action on Friday, October 16, when they host Abha Club, with Bonsu Baah hoping to continue his productive run in the final third.
