Nora Häuptle has departed Ghana following the conclusion of her contract as head coach of the Black Queens.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) had appointed the Swiss coach to lead the Ghana women’s national team, taking over from Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo, who had been in charge since 2019.
Häuptle chose not to renew her contract, which expired on December 31, 2024, marking the end of her tenure with the Black Queens.
Under her leadership, Häuptle successfully guided the team to qualification for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. However, her attempt to lead Ghana to the Olympic Games was unsuccessful, as the team was eliminated by Zambia’s Copper Queens.
As previously reported, Häuptle is set to take over as head coach of Zambia’s Copper Queens, where she is expected to sign a two-year contract with a monthly salary of $7,000. Her appointment was approved by the Zambia FA’s Executive Committee on December 21.
In the meantime, the Ghana FA is actively searching for a new head coach to lead the Black Queens in the upcoming 2025 WAFCON.
