Ghana’s Black Galaxies have arrived in Lome, Togo, for a crucial friendly match scheduled to take place at the Stade de Kégué on Wednesday, December 11.
The game is part of their intensive preparations for the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Nigeria.
Having been in camp for the past month, the team is focused on making a return to the CHAN tournament, which is exclusively for players based in their home countries. Head Coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani has called up over 30 players as he works to finalize the squad for the two-legged qualifier.
Ghana will host Nigeria in the first leg in Accra during the weekend of December 20–23 before heading to Abuja for the decisive second leg. This friendly against Togo provides a critical opportunity for the team to fine-tune strategies and evaluate player performance.
The Black Galaxies last qualified for the tournament in 2023, where they exited in the group stage. Despite reaching the final in 2009 and 2014, the team has struggled to leave a lasting mark in recent editions.
With the stakes high, the team hopes to secure a solid performance against Nigeria and reclaim its prominence on the continental stage.
