FC Copenhagen have secured the services of 18-year-old Ghanaian winger David Boison Frimpong on a season-long loan from Medeama SC, with an option to make the deal permanent.

The Danish Superliga club confirmed the move as part of its continued investment in youth development and international scouting.

Frimpong, who has already featured in both the Ghana Premier League and the CAF Champions League, joins Copenhagen’s U19 setup, where he is expected to continue his development in a highly competitive environment.

“David is a very promising left-footed winger who has already played a few first-team games for Medeama SC and also participated in the CAF Champions League,” said Mikkel Kohler, Head of Recruitment for FCK Talent. “We see great potential in him and are looking forward to helping him take the next steps in his career.”

The teenager arrives with a growing reputation for his speed, dribbling ability, and flair on the left flank—qualities that have caught the attention of European scouts despite his young age.

His performances at Medeama SC have been particularly impressive given the level of competition, and his participation in Africa’s top club tournament has given him early exposure to elite football.

Frimpong’s arrival in Copenhagen coincides with the start of pre-season training for the U19 squad. The coaching staff sees his inclusion as part of a broader strategy to foster international talent and prepare them for eventual promotion to the first team.

The move is seen as a calculated investment in the future, allowing the club to monitor his adaptation to European football closely over the coming year.

“David is a great international talent, whom we are very happy to be able to associate with our U19 team, which started training on Monday,” Kohler added. “We believe he will thrive in our system, both technically and tactically.”

This loan deal is more than a temporary transfer—it represents a deliberate effort by FC Copenhagen to position itself as a gateway for young African footballers aspiring to reach the top levels of the European game.

The Danish club has become known for its progressive youth development model and structured approach to player progression, making it an attractive destination for emerging talent.

For Frimpong, the move offers a unique opportunity to refine his skills in a professional European setting, learning from experienced coaches and competing against top youth sides.

The club’s training infrastructure and emphasis on tactical discipline will provide a platform for the young winger to grow both as a player and a professional.

The agreement includes a purchase option, allowing FC Copenhagen to secure the winger’s long-term services should he impress over the course of the season.

It also gives Medeama SC the opportunity to showcase one of their brightest prospects on a larger stage, highlighting the growing influence of Ghanaian clubs in international player development.

If all goes to plan, David Boison Frimpong could soon be making the transition from Copenhagen’s youth ranks to the senior squad, marking another milestone in what promises to be a promising career.
