Athletic Bilbao clinched a hard-fought 2-1 win against Osasuna in Round 18 of La Liga at the Estadio El Sadar on Saturday evening.
The Basque outfit, led by a stellar performance from Ghanaian striker Inaki Williams, continued their strong form, securing their 14th win in their head-to-head record against Osasuna.
Osasuna struck first through Lucas Torró in the 25th minute, capitalizing on a set-piece situation to slot the ball into the bottom right corner. Athletic Bilbao responded swiftly six minutes later, with Inaki Williams delivering a pinpoint cross for Gorka Guruzeta, whose precise header leveled the game.
Athletic Bilbao seized the lead in the 74th minute when Alex Berenguer found the back of the net with a left-footed strike, silencing the 22,030-strong home crowd.
Williams, who completed the full 90 minutes, was instrumental in the victory, adding to his impressive tally of five assists this season. Athletic Bilbao now looks ahead to their Copa del Rey clash against Logroñés on January 4.
This result tightens Athletic’s grip on a top-six La Liga spot as they aim for European qualification.
