Helsingborgs IF midfielder Samuel Asoma is on the verge of leaving the Swedish side, with a move to Finnish club Vaasan Palloseura expected to be completed in the coming days after the teams reached an agreement.
The 23-year-old, who joined Helsingborgs last year from Trelleborgs FF, appears set for a swift exit despite being under contract until 2028.
Reports indicate the framework of the deal is already in place, paving the way for his switch to Finland once final details are concluded.
Asoma featured regularly during his first season at the club, making 25 appearances in Sweden’s second tier, the Superettan.
He started 15 of those matches, establishing himself as a rotation option in midfield following his arrival from Trelleborgs.
However, a change in direction under new head coach Stevie Grieve has reshaped the squad outlook.
Grieve has signalled a willingness to allow Asoma to pursue opportunities elsewhere, clearing a path for negotiations to progress between the clubs.
Further indication of an imminent transfer came when the midfielder was absent from Helsingborgs’ most recent friendly fixture.
Such omissions are often interpreted as a protective measure while paperwork and formalities are finalised, suggesting the move is entering its closing stages.
An official confirmation is anticipated next week, which would bring an end to Asoma’s brief spell in Sweden and begin a new chapter in Finland.
Until then, all parties appear aligned on completing the transfer, with only final administrative steps remaining before the deal is announced.
