President of Barau FC, Shawwal Barau I Jibrin has confirmed that Ghanaian midfielder Nana Kwame Abraham has been discharged from the hospital after neck injury in the Nigerian Premier Football League.

The Ghanaian footballer was brutally attacked by unruly Katsina United fans shortly after the visitors’ equalizer in the highly-tensed clash last Saturday.

The chaotic scenes unfolded at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium when Barau FC levelled the score 1-1 through Orji Kalu in the 69th minute.

As reported earlier by Africasoccer.com, Nana Kwame Abraham sustained a neck injury in a horrifying act of violence that sent shockwaves across the football community.

However, the club president has disclosed that, Nana Kwame Abraham, who sustained a neck injury has been discharged from a private hospital in Kano after receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, Shawwal Barau I Jibrin has denied the alleged passing of Barau FC player and the purported throat slit of the Ghanaian midfielder.

“We glorify Allah SWT that all the injured persons have been discharged, including Abraham, who had a cut on his neck… The news that one of our players was killed and the throat of another was slit was fake,” he said.

Jibrin welcomed Abraham’s recovery and urged fans to remain peaceful, stressing that football is a tool for promoting unity and should not be used to cause trouble.

He also praised the Nigeria Premier Football League for the disciplinary actions taken against Katsina United, insisting it will serve as a deterrent against future occurrences.

Following the incident, the NPFL imposed a ₦9 million fine on Katsina United for multiple rule breaches and ordered them to play their home matches behind closed doors at the New Jos Township Stadium.
