Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana is on the verge of completing a move from Atalanta to Bologna, with the deal structured as a loan that includes an option to buy, according to transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The arrangement, if finalised, will allow Bologna to strengthen their midfield depth under coach Vincenzo Italiano while keeping long-term flexibility.
The loan is understood to carry a €1 million fee, with Bologna holding an option to purchase the 21-year-old for €11 million at the end of the season.
Sulemana remains under contract with Atalanta until June 2028, a clear sign of the Bergamo club’s long-term faith in his development, even as they permit his temporary exit for more regular minutes.
Sulemana joined Atalanta in July 2024 after a €7.5 million switch from Cagliari. In his first season with La Dea, he made 10 appearances and scored twice, including a decisive strike against Roma that proved vital in securing Champions League qualification.
His contributions, though limited in number, were viewed as impactful, underlining his potential to become a consistent Serie A performer.
Bologna, who are aiming to build on their strong league campaign, see Sulemana as a versatile option capable of operating across multiple roles in midfield.
Italiano is expected to use him both as a box-to-box presence and as cover in deeper positions, giving the Rossoblù additional options.
For Sulemana, the move represents both an opportunity for increased playing time and a platform to solidify his reputation in Italian football.
